8 Days Uganda Ultimate Gorilla & Chimpanzee Safari
The 8 Days Uganda Ultimate Gorilla & Chimpanzee Safari involves traveling around Uganda to various destinations to encounter the endangered species of Mountain Gorillas and chimpanzees.
Day 1: Arrival-transfer to Kampala
On arrival you will be picked up by a guide/ company representative who will transfer you around Kampala on a city tour if you arrive early and after you will proceed straight to your lodge/ hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Kampala-Kibale NP
You will wake up early in the morning take breakfast then drive to the western part of Uganda to Fort Portal then transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. On your way to Fort portal, you will spot the beautiful vegetation terrain as well as the customary villages around the pearl of Africa with local people cultivating customary crops like millet, beans, sorghum, maize etc. You will also have sightings at the tremendous Rwenzori Mountains as well as the tea plantations. After sometime you will arrive in Fort Portal a region with a serene environment with cool fresh air winding from one side to another. You will drive off the main road to Kibale Forest one of Africa’s great rainforests and research reserves. In the evening, you will take on a guided night nature walk in the forest to spot nocturnal animals. After you will return back to your lodge/ hotel for dinner and overnight. Day 3: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience-Kibale
You will wake up early in the morning take breakfast then at exactly 6:30 am you will be transferred to the headquarters in Kibale. When you reach the headquarters, you will be told to go to a room for briefing about the Do’s and Don’ts when interacting with the rare species of Chimpanzees and this information will be provided by a very experienced guide/ park warden. After briefing, you will be distributed into different groups under a lead guide who will transfer you to the starting point (Kanyanchu Visitor Center) where you will leave from to penetrate the forest to search for the chimpanzees. You will enter the forest and when you find the chimpanzees, you will spend with them the whole day. You will observe them during their daily activities and here, you will spot them wake up, copulate, patrol, safeguard, play, hunt, fight and breast feed an experience that is more familiar with the ways of humans. You will stay with them the whole day till late evening when they start building new nests for the night. Day 4: Kibale Np-Queen Elizabeth Np
You will wake up early in the morning take breakfast then at exactly 8:00 am you will be transferred to the prominent Queen Elizabeth National park and on your way, you will have beautiful views of the green vegetation terrain as well as the great Rwenzori Mountains also known as the Mountains of the moon. In the afternoon, you will reach the tremendous Queen Elizabeth National Park. You can join a research team from the Uganda Wildlife Authority to track the banded Mongoose which are so social and closely related to the prominent meerkat. You will see them work together in team to ensure safety and cooperation of one another. Their ways are very exceptional and inspiring since they sleep together in a communal underneath den, wake up in the morning and hunt together in the afternoon then return to their den after sunset. You will be amazed by the encounter and you are free to take as many pictures as possible. After this, you will return back to your lodge/ hotel for dinner and breakfast. Day 5: Lion tracking research-Boat Cruise Queen Elizabeth Np
You will wake up early in the morning take breakfast then go join the researchers in the Uganda carnivore project so as to track the lions in Queen Elizabeth national park. You will be precisely briefed about the behaviours of the lions and will be informed on what to do when around them but you must have booked in advance before the visit. The exercise takes 1-3 hours and you will be searching for lions that have collars on them and when you get to them, you will get to know their various habits within Queen Elizabeth National Park and take as many different photos of them for remarkable memories/ future prospects. On your way, you may also have opportunities to spot other wildlife animals like the kobs, elephants, topis, antelopes etc. After this, you will break off for delicious lunch on the Mweya Peninsula. After having lunch, you will go to the Kazinga channel to take on an afternoon boat cruise which will enable you spot wildlife animals like the hippos pant and spew, buffalo hang back in the water. You will also have an opportunity to view beautiful bird species like the pied and malachite kingfishers, pink backed pelicans, saddle billed stork etc. After the cruise you will transfer back to your lodge/ hotel for dinner and overnight. Day 6: Queen Elizabeth Np-Ishasha sector-Bwindi Np
You will wake up take breakfast then embark on your journey southwards through beautiful savannah grasslands to the Ishasha sector of the park and here you will have an opportunity to spot the tree climbing lions. You will have beautiful views as well as experiences while watching them relaxed in the low hanging branches of the fig trees. After here, we will proceed with our journey to Bwindi Forest National park known for inhabiting the endangered species of Mountain Gorillas, 51 reptiles, 200 trees, 310 species of Butterflies, 200 trees, 88 moths, 120 species of mammals and other primates i.e red tailed and the blue monkey, black and white Colobus monkeys, baboons, L’hoest’s monkeys etc. After some time, you will reach Bwindi and you will transfer straight to your lodge/ hotel for dinner and overnight. Day 7: Gorilla Trekking-Bwindi Np
You will wake up in the morning take breakfast then later on transfer to the park headquarters for briefing about the Dos and Don’ts while around the endangered species of Mountain Gorillas. At exactly 8:00 am you will be divided in groups of eight per gorilla group then you will transfer to the starting point before penetrating into the forest to track the gorillas. You will enter the forest to track them and the period taken will depend on the movement of the Gorillas. When you find them you will be allowed only an hour to interact with them through taking clear good photography. You will enjoy spotting them patrol, hunt, copulate, wake up, rest in branches; breast feed etc an experience that will leave you wanting more encounters with these primates. After tracking and interacting with them, you will transfer back to your lodge/ hotel for dinner and overnight. Day 8: Departure-Kampala
You will rise up early in the morning take breakfast and after this, you will transfer back to Kampala through Mubende. En-route you will spot the rolling green vegetation along the roadside as well as plantations. When you reach Kampala earlier, you can visit some craft shops to carry/ buy some souvenirs to take back home. After you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
