8 Days Uganda Rwanda Gorilla Safari
This is one of the most spectacular safari as it begins from Uganda and ends in Rwanda. You will enjoy Uganda’s amazing wildlife, wild game especially the big five,view a variety of bird species up to Rwanda where you do the gorilla tracking. This safari’s itinerary will be as highlighted below;
Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP
Wake up very early in the morning and have your breakfast and then afterwards you will be picked by our driver and head to the Western part of Uganda to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This scenic drive will take approx 5-6 hours. You will stop over at the Equator for a photographic opportunity and also listen to some few interesting facts. We will then head through the volcanic formation of the western rift valley towards Queen Elizabeth. This park is a host to a large variety and volume of wildlife.Reaching in the evening and check in at Mweya safari lodge[luxury]or Institute of Ecology[budget]for dinner and overnight.Meal plan is F/B
Day 2: Game drive & Boat cruise
Rise up very early in the morning before 7 am and have breakfast and then move into the park for game drive. This early morning drive will enable you to catch a glimpse of some animals returning to their dens from their night preys. Such animals will include the big five[elephants,lions,leopards,buffaloes],hyenas,warthogs,alibi,silver buck etc.Move to the hotel for lunch and refreshments.In the evening go for boat cruise along the Kazinga channel which connects lakes George and Edward and then afterwards return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.Meals are F/B
Day 3: Drive to Bwindi impenetrable forest
Wake up very early in the morning and embark on the long drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park through the southern sector of queen Elizabeth NP known as Ishasha having lunch at Ishasha river.Move into Gorilla Resort[mid range] or Buhoma Community Bandas[budget].Meals are on FB.
Day 4: Gorilla Tracking
After a morning heavy breakfast and with packed lunch you will transfer to the park offices for briefing and then later on at 9:00 am commence the gorilla trek along the tracks in the thick forest searching for these great apes. Depending on the movement of these humble giants the trek might take between 2-9 hours before you encounter the Gorillas. Though the walk is tiresome meeting these great apes and spending some time with them while looking deep into their expressive brown eyes, is an exhilarating and heartbreaking wildlife encounter that Africa has to offer.Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Head to Rwanda
Wake up very early in the morning and have breakfast then armed with packed lunch embark on the long journey to Rwanda.This will entail crossing the Uganda Rwanda border and head to Gisenyi district reaching there late in the evening for dinner and night at the magnificat lake Kivu Serena Hotel.Meals here are based on F/B.
Day 6: Gorilla tracking
Rise up very early in the morning and have breakfast. Then with packed lunch head to Musanze region in the district of Ruhengeri district for gorilla tracking. Reach in time for general briefing and allocation of groups and guides at the headquarters.Then proceed to the actual gorilla tracking. Gorilla tracking takes between 2-4 hours and then head to Dianey fossey foundation for the award of certificates which indicates that one has tracked down gorillas successfully. Then locate back to the hotel for dinner and night. Meals on F/B
Day7: Drive to Lake Mburo NP
After breakfast depart for Lake Mburo National Park. This scenic drive will take you to Mbarara where you will stop for lunch before making our final descent to Lake Mburo National Park. This Park is an extension of the Tanzanian plains with big herds of zebra, impala, eland and other ungulates. Bird viewing opportunities are excellent – for birders, this is one of the best places to find African fin foot, papyrus bush shrike. After checking in, go for a game drive in the rolling hills and open grasslands. The lovely landscape is a home to Impala, Waterbuck, Eland, Zebra, Buffalo, Klipspringers, Crested Crane, and the elusive Shoebill Stork.Overnight at Luxury Mantana Tented camp/Basic Rwonyo Rest Camp (FB)
Day 8: Nature walk-Kampala
After an early morning breakfast you will have a guided nature walk. A ranger guide takes you on foot to the bush. Lake Mburo is the only place in this part of Uganda where you can see zebra and Impala and it’s also the best place to see the African Eland, Africa’s largest antelope! You will arrive at Kampala in the late afternoon.Check in at your preferred hotel and that marks the end of the trip
