Gorilla Trekking

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is famously known for offering remarkable Gorilla Trekking Adventures to all travelers interested in a safari tour holiday in Uganda. The Gorilla Trekking permit to this park costs US $600 per person interested and can be obtained directly through the Uganda Wildlife Authority or a valid Tour Operator Agency.
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park has one mountain Gorilla Group that can be tracked and this is called the Nyakagezi Gorilla Group which has attained its name to be a very exciting Gorilla Group to be tracked in Uganda.

Golden Monkey Tracking

Golden Monkey Tracking is also carried out in the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and this requires you to transfer along the various trails in the park searching for them and when you meet them, you will be impressed since you will spot them jump jumping and playing in the tree branches amazed at your presence.

The Golden Monkey tracking permit costs US $90 per person interested and these can be obtained on ground at the Ntebeko Visitor Center. The tracking begins in the morning at 8:00 am and takes less than 3 hours to experience these due to their location in the lower areas of the park.

Bird Watching

Due to the beautiful green forest vegetation in the park, Bird watching is also a very remarkable safari activity to all birders around the world. The park inhabits 115 different bird species that can be watched and numerous species can be watched along the 3-4 hour Gorge Trail that goes between Gahinga and Sabinyo.

The birds you can watch include; Dusky turtle Dove, Cape Robin-chat, Olive Thrush, Brown-crowned Tchagra, Bronze Sunbird, Regal Sunbird, Blue-headed Sunbird, Rwenzori Batis, Black-headed Waxbill and Streaky Seedeater, Rwenzori Turaco, Chubb’s Cisticola, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, and Doherty’s Bush-shrike. All vivid birders around the world should not miss out on this exceptional safari destination to enjoy the best.

Volcano Climbing

Volcano Climbing is carried out along all the 3 Volcanoes in the park i.e Mt. Sabinyo Volcano at 3,669m with 14 kilometers and requires one about 8 hours following a sharp edge to the peak. Mt. Gahinga Volcano at 3,474m requiring 6 hours to climb and descend through giant lobelia and swamp filled crater and by chance, you might spot the Golden Monkeys on their way through the bamboo.

Mt. Muhavura Volcano at 4,127m requires travelers to transfer a distance of 12 kilometers which takes 8 hours hence being the highest peak among all. After getting to the top of the peak on a clear day, you will have beautiful views of the Virunga Volcanoes, Lake Edward, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and the peaks of the Rwenzori.
