Detailed Itinerary of  7 Days Uganda Gorillas, Wildlife & Chimps Safari

Day 1: Kampala-Kibale National Park

After breakfast at your hotel in Entebbe or upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport you will meet your driver-guide and embark on a journey to Kibale Forest National Park via Fort Portal, along the way you will have lunch en-route and enjoy scenic views. Visit the beautiful crater lakes area and get a chance to see the terraced tea estate.

On arrival in Kibale Forest, you will check in at your lodge, have dinner and overnight stay.

Accommodation Options: Primates lodge/Ndali Lodge (Luxury), Chimpanzee Forest Guest (Mid-range), Kibale Forest camp (Budget).

Day 2: Kibale forest- Chimpanzee trekking & transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Enjoy early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking. After briefing around 08:00 am trek through the rain forests as you will be guided by the park rangers.

 The trek is always a thrill and an unforgettable experience, similar to meeting the chimpanzees face to face. Watching them engage in their daily activities like playing, jumping, feeding among others. Other Kibale Forest primates you will see including grey cheeked mangabeys, L’Hoest monkeys and several bird species.

Return to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will embark on a 3 hours’ journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to diverse wildlife ad birdlife.

Day 3: Game drive & Launch cruise

Wake up early, have a cup of coffee and set out for a game drive where you will see early risers along the Kasenyi track such as elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, warthogs as well as several bird species.

After the game drive that takes approximately 3 to 4 hours, head back to the lodge and have breakfast, short rest and lunch. In the afternoon you will head to Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise. Kazinga boat cruise is one of the amazing Uganda Safari Experience on which you will enjoy watching elephants, buffaloes along the banks, crocodiles, hippos, waterbucks and several water birds. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer from Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi Forest

After breakfast, check out and start your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha Sector where you will have a glance at the tree climbing lions and many other wildlife species. Along the way you will also enjoy the changing landscape views, have en-route lunch, and arrive at the park in the afternoon. Enjoy dinner and an overnight.

Day 5: Bwindi forest-Gorilla trekking and a visit to Batwa Community

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and transfer to the Park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking and the right way to behave while in the presence of the gorillas. With your packed lunch and groups of 8 people, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and head into the forest looking for mountain gorillas.

Batwa Cultural Safari

The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. When you locate them, you will spend one hour watching them play, feed and groom each other among others.

Later after the trek, head back to the lodge, have lunch as prepare for a Batwa Community visit in the evening. Continue to Bwindi’s Rushaga Sector where you will spend the night.

Day 6: Second Gorilla Trekking Experience in Rushaga Sector

Today, you will enjoy a second gorilla trekking experience in the Rushaga Sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, giving you an opportunity to experience a different gorilla sector in Bwindi as well as gorilla families.

Day 7: Departure

After breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and embark on a journey back to Kampala, have lunch in Mbarara and a stopover for photos at the Equator, you can also buy some souvenirs. Continue to Entebbe where you will be dropped off to catch your flight back home or to your next destination.
