Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Cultural Experience

Your Rwanda luxury gorilla safari starts with arrival at Kigali International Park where you will be received by your private guide, he will brief you about the safari and transfer to your hotel in Kigali City.

In the afternoon, you will go on a Kigali City Tour immersing yourself in the calm atmosphere of this vibrant city by exploring some of its hidden treasures including the bustling markets, visit art galleries showcasing local talent and indulge in delicious Rwandan cuisine. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial where you will learn about the country’s history and progress, the Memorial serves as a poignant reminder of the country’s dark past.

At sunset, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Visit Ib’Iwacu Cultural Village

Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast, join your private safari guide on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park – home to the endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. Along the way you will marvel at the picturesque landscapes and lush greenery Rwanda is famously known for.

On reaching Kinigi, check in into your lodge and refresh, enjoy lunch and short rest. In the afternoon, you will go to the Ib’iwacu village for a cultural experience. Here you can engage with the local community and learn about their traditional customs, dances and crafts.

Immerse yourself in their way of life, gaining a deeper understanding of several Rwanda traditions, cultures and get a taste of the local cuisines.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Today you will embark on a gorilla trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park which is a highlights of your 5 Days Rwanda Luxury Gorilla Safari.

Have an early breakfast, meet your driver-guide and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about gorilla trekking, in groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and head into the forests looking for mountain gorillas accompanied by experienced guides and trackers.

The trek takes approximately 2-4 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. As you search for these gentle giants, listen to sounds of nature and keep an eye out for other wildlife species that inhabit the park, including golden monkeys and various bird species.

When you finally encounter a gorilla family you are trekking, you will observe them in their natural habitat in total silence, marvel at their sheer strength and gentle demeanor, and also capture everlasting memories through your lens. After this magical encounter, you will trek back to the park headquarters, meet your guide and return to your lodge for an evening of rest, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Visit Ellen DeGeneres Camp

After breakfast, you will head to the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund where you will expand your knowledge about gorilla conservation efforts. This fund is a renowned organization dedicated to protecting and preserving gorillas and their habitats.

Learn about their ground breaking research and conservation projects, and witnessing safeguarding these greatly endangered apes. Engage with passionate conservationists, researchers, and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and success in gorilla conservation.

Day 5: Drive to Kigali

Today is the last day of your 5 Days Rwanda Luxury Gorilla Safari, after a leisurely breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and drive back to Kigali. When you arrive, you will be dropped off at the Kigali International Airport to catch your departure flight back home, bringing your Rwanda Gorilla safari to an end.
