Detailed Itinerary of 4 Days Rwanda Safari
Day 1: City tour of Kigali – Transfer to the Volcanoes National Park Rwanda – Visit the Twin Lakes
To start your 4 Days Rwanda Safari, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide on your arrival at Kigali International Airport or after breakfast at your hotel in Kigali. He will brief you about the safari and go for a Kigali City Tour visiting the Gisozi Genocide War Memorial Site where you will learn about what happened during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Also visit the former presidential palace, local craft shops and the main city market before going for lunch in the city.
After lunch, you will be begin the 2 to 3 hours’ journey to Volcanoes National Park. The route to this misty park rewards tourists with beautiful scenery consisting of tea and other plantations. Once you arrive in the park, check in at your lodge, rest and prepare for a gorilla tracking the next day. If you arrive earlier and are still fresh, the driver will take you for a tour of the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo.

Day 2: Tracking Gorillas – Tour the Iby’iwacu cultural village
Wake up early for breakfast and transfer to the park’s headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking, a senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the forest and presence of mountain gorillas.
In groups of 8 people you will head to the starting point, enter into the forest in search for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. You will be allowed to spend only 1 hour in the presence of the gorillas watching them go on with their life in the forest,
After one hour of intimate interaction with mountain gorillas, you will return to the starting point where our driver would be waiting for you. Once at the lodge, you will have lunch, shower and rest as you wait to be taken to the Gorilla Guardians Village in Musanze. Formerly known as the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, the site is the best place to experience all that is great about the Kinyarwanda and Batwa Culture. Expected to be entertained by cultural dancers after taking the tour of the facility.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking – Transfer to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi – Swimming, canoeing, island hopping and Relaxation
Wake up early for breakfast and head to Volcanoes National Park again for golden monkey trekking, join other trekkers at the park headquarters for briefing and head into the forest searching for golden monkeys.
Like gorillas, golden monkeys are listed as endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). They are very cute and playful primates with golden coats. Tracking them doesn’t take so long when compared to gorillas and you should expect to be back at the lodge at midday. You will check out of the lodge and get ready to leave Volcanoes National Park for Lake Kivu in Gisenyi.

Lake Kivu is the largest fresh water in lake in Rwanda, spreading all the way to Democratic Republic of Congo. The lake contains hidden methane gas beneath its surface but it’s currently not dangerous to swimmers. The lake is popular with tourists because of its natural beauty and amazing activities. Once you arrive, you will check in to your hotel room and have lunch overlooking the lake. After lunch, you can go for swimming, relaxation by the lakeside, canoeing or visiting the different islands and fishing villages.

Day 4: Complete activities in Lake Kivu – Transfer back Kigali
Wake up at leisure, enjoy breakfast and go for a boat ride exploring Lake Kivu. After lunch, you will embark on a journey back to Kigali City where you will be dropped off at Kigali International Airport for your international flight back.
