Detailed itinerary of 8 Days Uganda Gorillas & Wildlife Flying Safari
Day 1: Entebbe – Shoebill tracking
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcome by our driver-guide and head to your hotel in Entebbe, depending on our time of arrival. You can do an optional visit to Mambaba Swamp where you will see the prehistoric shoebills, you can also take a walk in the local markets or shop at the modern malls.

Day 2: Fly from Entebbe to Kisoro airstrip
After breakfast, you will head to Entebbe International airport to catch an early morning domestic flight to Kisoro Airstrip, on this flight of one hour, you will enjoy beautiful views of Lake Victoria, the scenic central plains and the rolling hills of the southwest region with cultivated terraces, tropical rainforest, bamboo forest and the majestic chain of the Virunga volcanoes.
You will be picked up by your guide and head to your lodge by road, in the afternoon you will have a walk on the Batwa Forest Trail in Buniga Forest, a pocketed forest close to the park. You will get a deeper insight into the forest lifestyle of the Batwa as they showcase their ancient cultural tales and hunting and survival skill.
Alternatively you can go for a walking safari in Kisoro own for a community walk and canoeing excursion on Lake Mutanda, hike through the communities and the cultivated garden trails. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight.
Overnight and stay at Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking
Wake up early for breakfast and by 7:00 am you will head to the park’s headquarters for briefing which starts at 08:00 am, in the briefing a guide takes you through the rules and regulations to follow while in the forest and presence of mountain gorillas. In groups of 8 people, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and with your ranger, you will head into the jungle looking for mountain gorillas.
The trek through the jungle takes approximately 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and the family you are trekking, when you find the gorillas. You will stay one hour in their presence while watching them play with each other, feed on leaves and take pictures as long as your flashlight is off. After spending time with the gorillas, you will head back to the park’s headquarters to pick your gorilla certificates and return to your lodge.
You will spend the rest of the evening at your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: Walking safari in Bwindi Forest
Enjoy breakfast, have a short briefing about the walking safari by your walking safari guide at the lodge and head into the jungle of Bwindi using several trails, you start the walk in the misty early morning hours so that the intense afternoon sunrays find you under the jungle canopy. You will be accompanied by a local guide and two – armed rangers for security, you will go with your lunch, also bring a camera a walking stick.
The walk takes about 4-5 hours, the two trails in Bwindi meet somewhere in the jungle and meander down to Buhoma tow, the longer trail takes about six plus meanders along the Kashasha river and several ridges. The shorter one starts at Kashasha River, down Nteko Valley and meanders long Ivy River. A drive of about 15 kilometers to Nteko villages is a mist and it leads to the Ivy River Trail, both of these trails offer travelers the best adventure in the jungle. In the evening you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will bid fare well to Bwindi forest and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park through the Ishasha Sector where you will spot the rare tree climbing lions and as you drive by, you will spot them lazily lounging in fig tree branches if you are lucky.
Along the way to your camp, you will encounter several animals in the savannah plains such as several species of antelopes, elephants, buffaloes and the occasional leopard.
Dinner and overstay at Ishasha Wilderness Camp
Day 6: Morning game drive and Kazinga Channel boat cruise
Enjoy breakfast and head to the park ‘s Kasenyi plains for an early morning game drive, as you drive on the tracks you will encounter animals like herds of elephants and buffaloes, antelope species such as Uganda Kob, topi and bushbuck, giant forest hog and the elusive leopard.

In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel setting off at 14:00, you will be able to enjoy sights of elephants, buffalo, waterbuck, Uganda kob, large hippos in the waters and banks of the Kazinga channel. Also keep your eyes open for enormous water monitor lizards and crocodiles. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Full day game drive
After breakfast, you will head back to the lodge for full day of game viewing along the Kasenyi tracks where you will spot a number of animals including lions, waterbucks, elephants, buffaloes, kobs, mongooses, leopards among others.

Day 8: Fly back to Entebbe
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe International Airport where you will catch your international flight back home.
