Embark on an incredible encounter with Uganda’s famous primates, mountain gorillas and chimpanzees on this 9 Days Uganda gorillas chimpanzee safari. To start off your Uganda primate safari, head to Kibale National Park, a stronghold of chimpanzees. You will make your way through the lush forest and marvel at the chimpanzees playing, eating and climbing the trees.

Then head to Queen Elizabeth National Park for excellent sightings of Uganda’s wildlife including four of the Big Five, the rare tree climbing lions and the rare shoebill. Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas, which will take your breath away.

Your last experience will be in Lake Mburo National Park, discover this beautiful park with all its animals, scenery and little local villages.

Detailed Itinerary of 9 Days Uganda Gorillas & Chimpanzee Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative (your private driver-guide) and be transferred to your hotel in Entebbe while taking in the African atmosphere.

Day 2: Kampala to Kibale National Park

After a delicious breakfast, you will meet your guide and embark on a journey to Kibale Forest National Park, it is a 6 hour scenic route that will take you through lush countryside, several plantations and some bustling towns and villages. As you get close to the Kibale Forest, the landscape slowly changes into a think forest, and you might have a chance to spot your first chimpanzees or some other primates.

Check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale National Park – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Meet our closest relatives – the chimpanzees and watch them play, eat and groom each other in the middle of the green rainforest.

After breakfast, you will meet your guide and head to the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking. Then head into the forest searching for these playful primates on a trek that takes about 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the chimpanzees and where they spent their previous night. When you find the chimpanzee group, you will be allowed to spend only 1 hour in their presence watching them play, leaping through trees and grooming each other.

Return to your lodge for lunch, later check out and embark on a two hours’ drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to four of the Big Five, tree climbing lions and has the largest number of hippos in East Africa. With en-route game drive, you will head to your lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Game Drive – Boat Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up for a full day of adventure in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park takes you to the Kasenyi Plains renowned for being the best place for wildlife viewing in the park. Lookout for excellent sighting of several animals including lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, warthogs and several colorful bird species.

After lunch, you will for a boat safari on Kazinga Channel. Explore this biodiverse place for 2-3 hours. The Kazinga Channel in the Queen Elizabeth National Park stretches 40 kilometers long, liking Lake George to Lake Edward. Keep a keen eye out at all times, as you may spot hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, and a variety of other animals. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park on a drive of 5 to 6 hours. Observe the landscape gradually transforming from open savannah plains to thick and lush green forests.

Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking and Bwindi forest. A ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of the gorillas, in groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and head into the forests.

The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. You will spend one hour observing the gorillas as they play, feed, groom and take amazing pictures.

Trek back to park headquarters, meet your guide and return to your lodge for an evening of resting and reminiscing about the day’s adventure.

Day 7: Drive to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, we head to Lake Mburo National Park on a journey of 7 hours trip. Along the way you will see the forest-like landscape gradually transform into soft verdant hills and open savannah.

Lake Mburo National Park is home to wildlife seeking green vegetation and refreshment, so get ready for excellent sightings of wildlife and several bird species.

Day 8: Walking Safari, Game Drive and Mountain bike safari

Marvel at the African wildlife up close during a walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park and safari vehicle, and explore the surrounding by bike.

On a walking safari in Lake Mburo you will explore the wonderland from a completely different point of view. Hike through savannahs, woodlands and lakeshore and learn more about the flora and fauna from your experienced guide. Here, you can close to animals like zebras, impalas, giraffes and watch the park’s famous hippos from a safe distance.

On a game drive, our guide takes you to several regions of the park where you will have enjoy seeing several animals including giraffes, buffaloes, jackals, hyenas, leopards, hippos, zebras, impalas and sever animals.

Take on 2 wheels and discover the surrounding of the beautiful Lake Mburo National Park on a mountain bike Uganda safari. Day 9: Departure
