Detailed Itinerary of 7 Days Uganda Family Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

As you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, your gateway to the pearl of Africa. You will be met by our friendly representative (your private driver-guide) and transfer to your hotel in Kampala.

Day 2: Drive to Jinja – Horse riding experience

After breakfast, you will journey to Jinja where you will catch a glimpse of the famous Lake Victoria – one of the highlights of Jinja and its beautiful landscape. Once in Jinja, you will go for a horse ride along the shores of Lake Victoria – the source of the Nile.

On this eco-friendly experience you will discover the charming villages around Jinja on the back of a horse. Both professional equestrians and beginners can join, as experienced guides ensure your safety while you saddle up and gallop along the banks of the might Nile River. Catch a glimpse of the daily life in rural Uganda or climb the hills overlooking stunning sugar and tea plantations.

For the extra special experience is the sunset ride, for 1.5 hours you will enjoy the laid-back atmosphere in late-afternoon villages and see the sun slowly set over the river.

Day 3: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park – Rhino Tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

From Jinja we journey to Murchison Falls, the oldest national park in Uganda. On the way you take a break visiting the rhinos of the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Nestled in the middle of the country, the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a 70 square kilometer wide paradise with wildlife enthusiasts and a safe haven for white rhinos. In fact, the sanctuary is the only place where you can see white rhinos in Uganda. During a rhino trekking tour, you can not only meet these majestic animals in the natural habitat but also support the sanctuary’s conservation efforts. With a professional guide, you will head out searching for the grey giants. Once found, you only need to take a deep breath, take pictures and Savour the moment.

After lunch at the site, you will continue to Murchison Falls National Park arriving in the evening. With en-route game drive you will head to your lodge for check in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Top of the Falls Hike – Boat Safari & Game Safari in Murchison Falls National Park

Today we explore Murchison Falls National Park in a safari vehicle, boat and foot, this is the best way to explore this incredible Uganda Safari destination. Following in the footsteps of famous people like Winston Churchill and climb to the top of Murchison Falls, this 45 minute hike is relatively easy as the path is paved with steps and footbridges. Once at the top, you marvel at the mighty, churning masses of Nile water squeeze through a narrow gorge before plunging into the depths and taking in the view over the Nile and the vast savannah landscape below you.

Continue exploring Murchison Falls National Park in a 4×4 safari vehicle, keep your eyes out for incredible sighting of several including giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, gazelles, antelopes and several bird species among others.

In the afternoon you will go for a boat safari to Murchison Falls, board a double-decker boat for an old-style River Nile Cruise. Sail up the river for two hours and one hour back while spotting hippos and crocodiles in the water, and several animals on the shores. Eventually the boat leads you to the bottom of the impressive 43-meter high Murchison Falls, where you can feel the fresh water droplets on your face while seeing the water cascading down.

Day 5: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

Today we drive from Murchion Falls National Park to Kibale Forest National Park, this 6 hour drive leads you past welcoming villages, rainforests, charming tea plantations and mesmerizing crater lakes towards Fort Portal. If the weather is clear, you can see the Rwenzori Mountains with their snow-capped peaks. And then, get ready for Kibale Forest, the primate capital of the world with no less than 13 different species of monkeys.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest

After breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking then head into the depths of the rainforests to observe our closest relatives, play, eat and groom each other.

Kibale Forest National Park has the highest concentration of chimpanzees on the African continent, with approximately 1,500 chimps in several groups, offering you a high chance of seeing them in the wild. Expert guides lead you through the lush rainforest, where you can observe chimpanzees leaping through trees, playing, eating and grooming each other.

Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will go for a swamp walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This magical place, also called “home of the great blue turaco”, is the home of over 200 bird species and during you walk, you can spot eight primate species in the trees above you, as well as other Ugandan animals such as Sitatunga, bushbucks and otters.

Day 7: Drive back to Entebbe – Flight home
