Detailed Itinerary of 7 Days Uganda Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park – Tour Fort Portal
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and start the journey to Kibale National Park, the capital of primates in Africa. Along the way to Kibale Forest you will be rewarded with amazing sights of the countryside, forests, rivers, lakes and plantations, the intriguing Ankole cattle, trading centers, towns and the ever smiling local people.
On arrival at Fort Portal City, you will have lunch and then go for a tour of this small but very beautiful town, now known as a Tourism City and home to the headquarters of the Toro Kingdom. Because of the tranquility in the city, the town is arguably the best place to live in Uganda.
Dinner and overnight stay at Kyaninga Lodge (Luxury), Primates Lodge (Mid-range) and Chimpanzee Guest House (Budget).
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi Swamp walk
Enjoy an early morning breakfast, then head to Kibale National Park headquarters for the briefing on chimpanzee trekking led by the park guides, the briefing is all about the rules and regulation of tracking chimpanzees, the park and what to expect.
After the briefing, you will head to starting point, enter into the forest searching for the chimpanzees. The trek takes approximately 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. You are allowed to spend only one hour in the presence of the chimpanzees, watching them play on tree branches, pick fruits and play with each other.
Then trek back to the park headquarters, meet your guide and return to the lodge for lunch. Later in the afternoon you will go for a guided walk in the Bigodi Swamp Sanctuary where you will see several bird species and monkeys.

Day 3: Head for Queen Elizabeth National Park – Game drive in Ishasha – Visit Kyambura Gorge
Wake up early to a heavy breakfast, checkout of the lodge and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, the most famous wildlife national park in Uganda renowned for its huge population of wildlife and the rare tree climbing lions.
With en-route game drive you will head to your lodge for check in and lunch. Later in the afternoon you will go for a guided nature walk in the Kyambura Gorge, one of the amazing natural wonders of Uganda. It contains an underground forest hosting several primates including chimpanzees, baboons, monkeys, hippos and several bird species. After this amazing experience, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Second Game drive and boat trip at the Kazinga Channel
Wake up early for breakfast at your lodge and go for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains, the morning game drive will allow you to catch up with the nocturnal animals and predators as they retreating back to their dens after hunting in the night. Also, lookout for early risers and birds. Other animals you will see include hippos, hartebeests, leopard, and buffaloes, among other birds.
After the game drive you will return to your lodge for lunch and then go for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. During the boat cruise you will spot several water bird species and water dwelling mammals as well as lions, leopards, antelopes as they drink water along the channel. Hippos, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes and crocodiles are always seen bathing/drinking by the water.

Day 5: Visit Maramagambo forest – Salt mining in Lake Katwe – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you will head to Lake Katwa to see how the local people mine salt. This is a good time to mingle with the locals and find out how they and their ancestors benefit from the salt. Afterwards you will go for a guided natural at the Maramagambo forest where you will visi the Bat caves and the pythons that feed on them from a hidden platform.
Apart from bats and pythons, there is also a real chance of seeing red-tailed monkeys, other primates include chimpanzees (not habituated), pygmy antelopes and more. You will also get to see the crater Lakes – Nyamasingiri and Kyasanduka. Later in the afternoon, you will start the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and to your lodge.

Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest – Visit to the Batwa Pygmies
Wake up early, have breakfast and meet your guide and head to the park headquarters for briefing about mountain gorilla trekking and the right way to behave while in the presence of the gorillas. In groups of 8 people, you will head into the forest in search for a gorilla family assigned to you, the trek takes approximately 2 -6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.
Upon locating your gorilla family, you will be allowed to spend only 1 hour in their presence watching them as they on with their life in their natural habitat.

Then trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet your guide and head back to your lodge. Later go for a cultural visit in the Batwa Community where you will get a deeper insight into their life in the forest, be entertained by local dances and drama, interact with the elders among other. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Transfer back to Kampala for departure
This is the last day of the safari and you will wake up at your own time taking into consideration your departure time. The driver will follow another route with a stop at the Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara for lunch and the Equator crossing in Kayabwe for photographs. If time permits, you can also stop at the Buganda Royal drum makers to learn how giant drums were crafted. We hope that you would have enjoyed your time in Uganda. The driver will drop you at the airport in Entebbe or at your hotel.
